Setting Up Bid Protection (Weekend Protection)

Bid protection (also known as "weekend protection") guarantees employees who work a specific position Monday through Friday the right to work that same position on Saturday and Sunday. In weekend bidding, weekend protection overrides seniority for that specific position.

Please note: This video uses the Hero Schedule version of ShiftBID. It's the same process, but the colors and branding are different. We will update these videos when our team has time!

How to Use Weekend Protection

To use the weekend protection feature, follow these steps:

Create a weekend schedule. The positions must have the same name as the positions from the week.
Select the dropdown menu next to Save, and then click Manage Bidding.
Under Protected Bid, select the bid from the previous week.
When employees log in to bid, one of the positions will be locked in as a protected position.

How Employees Can Use Weekend Protection

To use weekend protection: Employees can select the protected position as their first option and click Save. This will lock in their protected position for the weekend.
To not use weekend protection: If an employee wants to work a different position for the weekend, they can choose a different first pick.
